Recognized Research Group on Education Policy Supranational [UAM / PR020] (GIPES), assembles a education professionals, professors, young researchers, doctoral and education, interested in the scientific study of emerging internationalization of the interdisciplinar and the impact of these processes on national education policies and educational systems interested in the scientific study of the interdisciplinary group of university.
Believes that contemporary society is a partnership based on knowledge, global and technological, in which the internationalist trends have a central role in all spheres of social life and, significantly, in the educational processes. On that stage international flows of educational harmonization, especially the leading role of supranational bodies are generated. For all these reasons, it is essential to our knowledge from a scientific approach the scope of these flows and their impact, for better understanding of the educational phenomenon both globally considered from a national, regional or local approach.
From these premises, the GIPES, is established as a scientific research group, in the bosom of the Autonomous University of Madrid, inside the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education whose purpose is the realization, promotion and dissemination of scientific research, generating knowledge transfer in the field of Supranational Education Policy. And understand this as an academic discipline, a improving knowledge and a scientific area with its own object. The purpose of the research in GIPES has a vocation applied, mainly to support the development of public education policies.
On the development of all their actions, both research and academic outreach, GIPES must be according to the principles an values stated in letters of Constitution of both the United Nations and UNESCO and, equally, of the European Charter Fundamental Rights and the Spanish Constitution, trying to promote them. Especially the GIPES assumes promote peace among peoples and nations, the defense of democracy and the implementation of free, fair and inclusive societies. Similarly, the GIPES defends the right to education for all, in terms of quality, equity and full equality of opportunity.
The GIPES enroll a priority basis in the area of Theory and History of Education and, within it and more specifically, in Education Policy and the Comparative and International Education.
THE GIPES develop its research work, focusing on applied mainly own scientific methodologies of Educational Policy and International and Comparative Education, also relying on the scientific methodologies of other related areas of knowledge such as History of Education, Sociology of Education, Economics of Education, Philosophy of Education, Anthropology, etc.
